There’s no real theme this month since I’m in the middle of remodeling my office, but I am going to be recommending all of you some extremely talented folks bringing us all some deep dive content. We start off with the legendary Defunctland and their recently released 4 plus hour video. All the content I’m recommending is going to be extremely esoteric deep dives, so feel free to binge or ration it all out as necessary for the month.
Have any of you ever owned a 3DO console? Neither have I, but it’s fascinating to look at it in retrospect. Before I go any further, Majuular is the most detailed comfy retro games content creator in existence. The level of detail he puts into his videos is staggering, and reemphasizes what I was talking about in my title about talented people doing things. If you vibe with how he presents his topics, there is literally over 100 hours worth of it waiting for you. You’ll fear layovers and long plane rides no more!
The extremely hard working Russ over at RetroGameCorps has an updated video on making your own retro gaming console. My monthly visitors (you all) are generally a more resourceful and older crowd. Making one of these yourself may be the joy in itself for later use, but it can also be an opportunity to gift someone something personally made to get them into gaming. I’ll let you decide the details, but it’s nice to know these guides exist and they are being maintained as the years go by.
Some of the funniest things I have done in my lifetime is messing with old hardware that is by all reasonable standards officially obsolete. This spirit of making things do stuff they never were intended to do is alive and well with folks like MetraByte. Thankfully for all of us, he has a sense of humor and good editing skills. So enjoy the ride above, as well as his other content dealing with random hardware nonsense.
Artist is Lack
Artist of the month is Lack, someone definitely not lacking any skills. As a matter fact, they’re quite talented and have some amazing work. I always enjoy artists who have a commercially friendly style that can go either way quickly if they wanted to. In other words, there’s some seriously beautiful art alongside some pretty NSFW hardcore stuff. Show them some love on any of their socials, as they’ve certainly earned an artist of the month recommendation.
